Getting to Crete

Crete has international airports in Chania and Heraklion. There are major ferry ports in Chania, Rethymno and Heraklion with direct links to Piraeus, Athens. Regular connections to the smaller island network depart from Agios Nikolaos. All of these towns are linked along the north coast by the island's main road. Getting to Plakias Hill

When making your own way by car you need to follow the road leaving Rethymno or the main Chania/Heraklion road for Spili to the south. You will pass through Armeni and follow the right turn sign for Plakias and Preveli at around the 17 kilometer mark. After 500 meters you will pass through the village of Koxare and for the next 4 kilometers the road follows the Kourtaliotis Gorge.

IGNORE the left turn sign for Plakias when leaving the village of Asomatos at the end the gorge and continue through the village of Mariou. Turn left at the junction to Plakias 1 kilometer after the village. There will be an access road to PLAKIAS HILL Mansion, Villas & Pointe on your right at about 400 meters.
